Staying in Sweden is not so bad at all!
The Northern Part of Sweden has everything to offer you. The Pearl river Nature Reserve is not so well known and therefore perfect to explore by canoe. Breath taking nature, silence, the Midnight Sun, wildlife and not to forget the very experienced guide are just a few words for this tour you do not want to miss out on.

After the tour for the day we will find nice spots to put up the tents for the night, making a fire to cook diner and coffee and tea. There are lots of possibilities to fish at Lake Karats. Perch, pike, salmon trout and grayling is to be found here. Catch your own fish and prepare for dinner!

We will make some shorter walks in the area, we then only bring a backpack, with a lighter weight just for that day.

All the equipment as tents, food, cookers etc. are transported in our canoes. Every evening we set a camp on the beach near by the lake. This is not an extreme canoe tour nor an extreme fishing tour but a great wilderness experience close to nature.

Just to be on the save side we recommend you arrive one day earlier before the tour starts. We recommend an extra night before and a night after the tour; Hotel Åkerlund or Skabram Camping

Day 1

Date : 17 August 2020

Meet & greet

We meet in Jokkmokk and by car we then drive to the host.
Here we check the equipment, give you clothing advices and go through the safety. After this we drive to Karats (50 km) where we launch our canoes and head out on the lake. In the afternoon we find ourselves a nice camp site, set the camp and enjoys the evening with dinner around the campfire.

Day 2-4

Canoeing and living life in the wilderness

During the following days we will be canoeing between the low mountains, hiking through the old pine forest, exploring creeks and small lakes separated from the big lake Karats and try our luck with our fishing rods. Maybe climbing the mountain Farforita that go steep down 400 m straight into the lake.
Together we prepare all meals over open fire and outdoor stoves. After sharing our daily experiences around the campfire, we fall asleep in our mountain tents.

Important: When we fish, we only take what we eat. After that we catch and release. We shall take care of the nature and not take more than we need.

We will have lots of good opportunities for photographing, study flowers/plants, fishing, bird watching and just enjoy the silence.
