Follow on a reindeer adventure through Lapland's winter forests with your own reindeer sleigh.
On the historical farm in Solberget/Biejvenoajvve, new adventures await you. The trained drag- and cargo reindeer will take you on an unforgettable cultural experience as well as a forest adventure. On traditional sleighs you travel through roadless land. We go through pristine forests and on frozen marshes. You will experience the winter landscape from a whole new perspective.
When you arrive at the farm, you will first get to know the reindeer and know more about these amazing Arctic animals. How have they been used as towing- and loading animals in Sami nomadic life? What roll did the reindeer have in the historic shipments of the mines' broken iron ore?
After an introduction on how to handle the sleigh and reindeer, we head out into the beautiful surrounding winter forest. On the reindeer sleigh we glide almost silently through Lapland's forests, covered with a thick layer of crispy snow.
We will have a break at a cosy campsite and we try out one of the locals' favorite activities when out in the wild. We make a fire, boil coffee and provide yourself with something delicious prepared over the open fire. A natural and important part of arctic natural life.
Together we prepare real forest coffee by the campfire, that is taken with a local favorite cake. You yourself grill one of the locals' favorite sausages over the open fire. It tastes extra delicious when cooked and eaten outdoors in the traditional way.
This tour is suitable for everyone. For young and old and for those, who want to learn more while testing the arctic nature forest life and enjoy it´s pureness and silentness far away from civilization. The wilderness village Solberget is located in an undisturbed and secluded location. It lies in the middle of the forest surrounded by several unique nature reserves and with 20 km to the nearest neighbour.

Yes, this is a nice tour with children. During the coldest periods we advice that the child is no younger than 6 year. Just think that if they sit still it can be very cold. You need to be able to dress them very warm, overall and good warm boots. Later in the season like March and April the temperatures are warmer. Just ask us and we discuss the possibilities with you if you wish more info.
As an adult you are leading the reindeer, good warm waterresistant boots are very important.
Winterjacket or overall, warm mittens and hat are also important.
No, you can not bring your dog on this tour.

Thanks to Olga, who kindly arranged this incredible experience with Dirk and his team, we lived an authentic and wonderful moment in this enchanted frozen forest. It has been truly appreciated to share this moment with these wild animals. It was very pleasant to notice how Dirk cares about his animals and treat them respectfully. The place is beautiful and the 2h tour was absolutely perfect, serene and magical. The opposite of a touristic trap!
Thank you for your warm welcome! We do hope to come back with the whole family in the future.
We wish you the best!
Thank you also for the equipment you lent us, we were not cold at all!
Take good care,
